Senior Benefits Accountant (Medical) - Sandy Springs, GA
Completes assignments, which include but are not limited to accounting, forecasting, maintaining compliance, etc. with limited supervision. Ensures management and business partners stay informed of variance or forecast analyses. Maintains strong relationships with internal and external business partners. Operates in an independent manner, but remains flexible for changing business needs
How you will impact WestRock:
Work with Benefits Group to analyze and assess the adequacy of various benefits reserves such as LTD/STD reserve, group insurance, retiree medical, HSA, FSA, and etc…
Support the annual budgeting process for employee benefits, retirement plans, and related administration expenses.
Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
Review general ledger accounts monthly, identifying and explaining material variances to management and business partners.
Prepare ad hoc management reports, financial analyses and presentations upon request.
Participate in the preparation and review of SOX controls and documentation process.
Participate in year-end footnote disclosures
What you need to succeed:
Four year degree in accounting, CPA certification Preferred
Required 5 + years accounting experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
Experience with JD Edwards, Hyperion (Smart View) Required, Peoplesoft Preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong PC, problem solving and analytical skills
Auditing or financial analysis experience – Plus
