Manager, Freight Audit Payment – Atlanta, GA
The Manager, Freight Audit Payments (FAP), reporting to the Global Freight Controller, will be responsible for providing leadership to a centralized Corporate Freight Settlement function responsible for over $200 million of freight spend. Position oversees existing operations in freight settlement functions while supporting consolidation and expansion initiatives in line with the long-term vision of WestRock’s leadership. The Manager, Freight Audit Payments, is responsible for maintaining and improving carrier relationships while working with external carriers, Logistics, Plant locations, IT and Accounting functions to identify root causes for freight invoice discrepancies. Through hands-on involvement, the position will implement solutions to reduce exceptions, improve paid on time %’s, and drive productivity/efficiency metrics.
How You Will Impact WestRock:
Oversee Freight Settlement Day to Day Operations
Manage Relationships with 3rd Party Carriers, 3rd Party FAP Provider and Internal Locations
Identify and implement Service Level Agreements (SLA) regarding processing times, etc.
Provide carrier reports for FAP issues & KPIs and Attend Freight Procurement carrier meetings to address & resolve carrier payment issues, as needed
Own the external 3rd party FAP provider relationship with CASS
Manage relationships with WestRock Freight Procurement/Divisions and freight carriers to centralize the ownership & management of the related processes
Lead Process Improvement Initiatives
Create, lead, and deliver on various process and system improvement projects, working with functionally diverse groups
Identify and implement costs savings by reducing manual resolutions/fees, etc. with 3rd party FAP partner and WestRock sites
Design effective controls related to Freight Settlement, working with IT, Financial Compliance, Freight Procurement and Freight Accounting.
Interface with internal and external auditors

Manage resources and people processes (e.g., performance review, career development, training, staffing, etc.) to ensure the day-to-day administration of processes and formal procedures
Identify individual and team skill gaps for developmental opportunities (e.g., training, special assignments, conferences, projects, etc.) to facilitate individual and team development
Review documented career goals and detailed action plans to develop staff personally and professionally
Conduct frequent performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner for facilitating open communication and encouraging continuous performance improvement

Provide salary recommendations consistent with employee performance
What You Need To Succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
Freight Settlement Experience Preferred, but not required
2+ years of accounting or related experience managing a high-volume transactional process
Strong analytical, process improvement, and systems skills
Demonstrates Hands-On Approach to leadership, managing, and developing teams
Must be able to adjust and work effectively in a dynamic, changing, and collaborative environment.
Ability to communicate effectively and confidently across all levels of the organization.
Experience in paper or manufacturing experience preferred, but not required.
Proficiency in Excel, JD Edwards, SAP (or other financial systems), Hyperion/Essbase/Smartview, and other reporting and analytical systems.
