The Process Controls Engineer has the overall responsibility for providing design, implementation, and support for existing and new Process Control projects.
How you will impact WestRock:
- Ability to evaluate processes and equipment operation
- Plan and manage process improvement projects
- Ability to read and understand P&ID's, loop sheets, and electrical drawings
- Ability to learn new programming languages and to understand control loop tuning.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.Project Management
- Providing design, implementation, and support for existing and new Process Control Projects for Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), and Custom control applications running in a MS environment
What you need to succeed:
Minimum Bachelor or Master’s degree with an emphasis / concentration in Process Controls
Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
Experience in a cross functional team environment – i.e. Maintenance / Engineering
Experience in Chemical Processing
Experience with Program / Project Management
Proficiency with PLC programming
Experience with project scope and requirement definitions
Excellent problem-solving ability -- Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
Strong and effective communicator, including using skills of Active Listening -- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Strong leadership abilities including critical thinking -- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Systems Analysis Knowledge and Skills -- Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
Ability to communicate effectively across all departments
Strong organizational and leadership skills
Ability to understand, support and enforce operational and technical policies.
A sense of area ownership and urgency to act are required.
