The opportunity:

 

The Electrical Engineer has the overall responsibility for mill-wide electrical engineering projects and processes. 

 

How you will impact WestRock:

 

  1. Confer with other engineers, design consultants, contract resources, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.

  2. Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical, electrical distribution, switch gear, instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems.

  3. Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.

  4. Establish engineering service providers, develop quotes, bids, bid packages, and procurement support documents.

  5. Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.

  6. Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.

  7. Plan procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects; conduct design calculations and review calculations of others, and approve electrical systems designs.

  8. Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.

  9. Oversee project efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.

  10. Investigate internal customer complaints, determine nature and extent of problem, and recommend remedial measures.

  11. Assist in developing capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs.

  12. Develop budgets, estimating labor, material, and construction costs, and forecasts; develop FEP documents and CPerf's

 

What you need to succeed:

  • Minimum Electrical Engineering Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution. 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in an industrial environment.

  • Excellent problem solving ability -- Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

  • Strong and effective communicator, including using skills of Active Listening -- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

  • Strong leadership abilities including critical thinking -- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Systems Analysis Knowledge and Skills -- Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.

  • Ability to communicate effectively across all departments

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills

  • Ability to understand, support and enforce operational and technical policies.

  • A sense of area ownership and urgency to act are required.
