The opportunity:

Few entry-level engineering positions give you as many manufacturing process opportunities as this one. As a WestRock Process-Electrical Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to learn steps used to produce WestRock products as well as many processes and systems. This entry level engineering position offers several twelve-month assignments in key electrical and instrumentation areas throughout the mill including the paper mill, pulp mill, recovery, power, and environmental. To enhance skill set and preparation for career progression, new engineers are encouraged to obtain Six Sigma Green Belt Certification and participate in leadership training during their first two years. Upon completion of their rotational assignments, the entry-level engineers leave the program to assume positions as E&I or process controls engineers throughout the Covington Mill.

 

How you will impact WestRock:

Apply your skills to increase efficiency, reliability and productivity in WestRock’s production environment
as you support production and lead improvement projects. In this role, heavy emphasis is placed on safety, teamwork, process improvement (analysis, planning, cost effectiveness), and new equipment specification and installation. As you become familiar with production processes, you’ll also gain valuable project management experience combined with gaining an understanding of design, installation and startup. Managing operational or project budgets and schedules complete the package.

 

What you need to succeed:

At least two years related manufacturing experience
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology required
Engineering skills, technical aptitude with focus on electric power distribution, PLCs, and
electro-mechanical systems
Key basic understanding of fundamental electric topics such as:
    -3-phase power fundamentals
    -power factor and its implications
    - functionality of transformers and electric motors
    -how to change the speed on a motor
    -the difference between AC & DC voltage
Strong attention to detail and a proactive focus
Ability to organize and prioritize workload
Ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce, within and across departmental lines
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Flexibility to travel: under 5%
